UUID Generator Documentation

Use the free UUID Generator →

Generate version 4 UUID strings using cryptographically secure randomness.

What does it do?

Generate version 4 UUID strings using cryptographically secure randomness.

How does it work?

Select Generate new UUID to create a random version-4 identifier with browser Web Crypto. The batch panel creates 1-500 identifiers locally. Generation is user-initiated rather than performed while rendering the server response.

When to use it
  • Generate a single UUID for a new record or identifier.
  • Generate a batch of UUIDs for seeding test data.
  • Copy a list of UUIDs directly into a script or spreadsheet.
Inputs and outputs
Input
Text, files, or values entered in the browser, depending on the tool.
Output
A result shown in the browser that can be reviewed or copied where supported.
Limitations
  • Random UUIDs make collisions extremely unlikely but do not guarantee uniqueness; enforce database uniqueness where required.
  • UUID v4 is not an authorization token, password, or proof of ownership. The tool does not check identifiers against any database.
