What is a Website Score?
The SiteIndex Website Score is a diagnostic summary of publicly observable website signals. It is designed to help you find practical issues, not to predict search rankings.
How it is calculated
SiteIndex fetches one public page, follows a limited number of public redirects, and checks a small set of same-site resources such as robots.txt and the sitemap. Checks are grouped into five categories and combined into an overall score from 0 to 100. Warnings receive partial credit; failed checks receive no credit.
Categories
- SEO
- Title, description, headings, canonical, Open Graph, Twitter/X metadata, and structured data.
- Performance
- Response time, HTML size, and whether the response advertises compression.
- Accessibility
- Language, viewport, image alternative text, and link accessible names.
- Security
- HTTPS and selected response security headers.
- Technical health
- HTTP status, robots.txt, and XML sitemap availability.
Limitations and updates
The score reflects the page and network conditions observed at analysis time. It does not crawl an entire site, run a real mobile device test, measure Core Web Vitals in a field population, verify accessibility conformance, or represent a Google ranking score. Run a new check when the site changes; results are not presented as a permanent certification.
