Password Generator

How to use it

  1. Choose Random password, set a length from 8 to 64, and choose whether symbols are allowed.
  2. Select Generate password after changing settings; the displayed entropy describes the last generated output.
  3. Copy the result to a trusted password manager. Avoid generating credentials on a shared or untrusted device.
What is Password Generator?

Create strong random passwords with adjustable length and symbol support.

How it works

Select Generate password to create a value locally with Web Crypto; the initial length is 18 characters. You can choose 8-64 characters and include symbols. Rejection sampling selects characters uniformly. A diversity heuristic and generation-entropy estimate describe the current output without promising a crack time. The separate 35-word passphrase mode is a low-entropy demonstration, not an account-credential recommendation.

Common uses
  • Generate random text for a development account under a compatible password policy.
  • Compare alphabet size and length in a generation-entropy estimate.
  • Demonstrate why a small word list gives low-entropy passphrases.
Limitations
  • Independent uniform selection does not guarantee at least one character from every class; check the destination's password rules.
  • The passphrase dictionary has only 35 words: four independent words provide about 20.5 bits, not adequate account security.
  • Length/diversity labels are heuristics, not breach checks or security guarantees. Browser extensions and clipboard history can expose copied values.
Frequently asked questions
Is the passphrase mode suitable for real accounts?
No. This demonstration uses only 35 words. Four words provide about 20.5 bits of generation entropy. Use a vetted large-wordlist generator for actual credentials.
How is randomness generated?
Web Crypto provides unsigned random values; rejection sampling avoids modulo bias when selecting a character or demonstration word.
Does the strength label guarantee safety?
No. It is a length-and-character-diversity heuristic. Entropy assumes independent uniform choices and is not a crack-time or breach-database result.
Does changing the settings regenerate the output?
Select the relevant Generate button after changing settings. The shown output and entropy remain associated with the last generation.
Are passwords generated on the server?
No. Generation starts only when you select the Generate button in the browser, and the tool does not submit the generated value. Use a trusted device and protect clipboard contents.
