Website Score Methodology
Website Score is a SiteIndex diagnostic score for public website signals. It is not a Google ranking score, certification, or substitute for specialist testing.
How the score is calculated
SiteIndex checks one public HTML page, follows a limited redirect chain, and requests limited same-origin robots.txt and sitemap resources. Passing checks receive full points, warnings receive partial credit, informational checks receive most points, and failed checks receive no points.
SEO
25%Title, description, H1 headings, canonical, Open Graph, Twitter/X metadata, and structured data.
Technical health
25%HTTP status, robots.txt, XML sitemap availability, compression, and document size.
Security
20%HTTPS and selected baseline response security headers.
Performance
20%Initial response timing, compression, and HTML document size.
Accessibility
10%Language, viewport, image alternative text, and accessible link names.
What the score cannot tell you
- It does not crawl every URL or run a real-user browser performance study.
- It does not assess content quality, business relevance, conversions, or search rankings.
- It is a point-in-time observation affected by server load, redirects, and network conditions.
