What is EXIF Viewer?

Inspect EXIF and other image metadata, then create a metadata-stripped copy locally. Your image is never uploaded.

How it works
  1. Select a photo whose metadata you want to inspect.
  2. Review the metadata table for fields available in the image.
  3. Choose “Strip metadata & download” to create a fresh JPG copy.
  4. Keep the original if you need its original format or embedded image features.

Where a network request is required, SiteIndex validates public HTTP/HTTPS targets before making the request.

Common uses
  • Check whether a photo contains camera or capture information before sharing it.
  • Review dimensions and metadata after receiving an image from a colleague.
  • Create a fresh JPG copy without embedded EXIF fields before publishing.
Limitations
  • Results depend on the browser, network, input, and external service involved.
  • This tool is informational and does not replace specialist diagnostics or professional advice.
Frequently asked questions
What information can EXIF metadata contain?
Depending on the source, metadata may include camera settings, capture date, dimensions, and sometimes location. Many apps remove or rewrite some fields.
Does the metadata remover change my original?
No. It creates and downloads a new JPG copy; the selected original file is not modified.
Does stripping metadata preserve the original format?
The stripped copy is exported as JPG, so transparency and some format-specific features are not retained. Keep the original if those features matter.
Are my photos uploaded for inspection?
No. Metadata reading and re-encoding are performed locally in your browser.
